I missed my brisk walk session for 2 days now.  Weather is being unmerciful these past week, strong wind and heavy rain starts every evening and till late at night.  Sad... =.=|||

After few days of doing an unsuccessful self-learning banghra (I hope I got this right) workout + dance session at home, the sky finally done with crying and being moody.  So I thought, why not asking Kaynisa to go out for a walk.  Checked on her in Facebook and she said she can't go anywhere due to the recurring pain on her left (or is it right?) leg.

Okay, so you are wondering.  I actually started my brisk walking session for quite sometime now.  There's this one weekend I went to Rimba Tropika park near my house at 5:30am with Kaynisa and we joined the senior citizen's Taichi lessons as well...and then in the evening we went to Perdana Park for another 2-3 hours of brisk walking, all at the same day.  I feel good and healthy.

Whenever I did my daily walks, I love to observe people around me...sometimes you can't help but listening to some people, particularly the senior citizens talked out loud, mostly about family and their health.

Well, it is important that we know our ownself, when we feel sick, if things is not right with our body, and what to do with it.  Some people will just simply brush it off, making themselves happy by saying that there's nothing wrong, or 'it's just an old sickness that will fade away.' .

However, did we think of the long run?

Nowadays, everyone is at risk of getting lots of sickness.  Whether it's in your genes or not.

So, take good care of yourself ok.  If you get sick, see doctor and get it check throughly.  Better than be sorry later.  Stay healthy.

When I was little, my mom used to have a hard time waking us up in the morning to get ready to school.  She will constantly nag us when our grades are lower than the previous semester and yeah, lower grades means you will have to cut certain things - less play time, more study and so on.

I still remember that when my sister graduated and received her degree, my mom couldn't be more happier.  I do wish that my dad can be with us to witness it also.

Anyway, as time goes by, there are so many news we heard around us that some students didn't make it to finish their studies for various reasons.  That made me wondering why, and what is the reason they did so.

College Dropout Rates

True, it could be from various reasons - finance tops it the most.  Study is not cheap.  There might be loans available but some students, lives far away from their family...there will be other needs like food, rent, computers, phone...and many other necessities needed to live.  Families who can afford to sent some extra cash for their children is fortunate...but I've seen some who really came from a poor family struggling to feed the mouths in their household, and to spare some extra notes to another outside there is another struggle, but the determination to see their children succeed, so the children in return, will contribute back to their siblings back home in future is a constant motivation.  I heard many stories where fathers sold off the only piece of land they had to earn some cash to send to their children for paying school fees and all.

Sad to say, there are some taking it for granted.  Studied halfway and then just leave, leaving their parents' hard work down to the drain.

How much worth is a diploma/degree in the real world?  You'll find out when your time comes.
Getting your hair colored in salons might cost you some money.  Price varies depends on the length of your hair and also the place you get it done.  If you had been a fan of changing your hair color in frequent basis, I guess it won't be a problem that the color will match or almost similar to what it was stated in the box (unlike mine).

So, my friend, Mel recommended (more like pestering me! =p) me Liese, a Japanese hair color that you can do it yourself at home.  I had been thinking to get my hair colored as well, but Leanna said my hair is still virgin (LOL!)...so she decided to tried it out first.

She opt for Chestnut Brown.
The box look like this, you can easily get it from Watsons for less than RM40.
There's instructions to follow inside, so if you follow exactly step by step, you never get wronglah.

Let's get started, shall we?

Owh...if you are a first timer, and not sure to do it alone, you may ask someone to do it for you.  If you doing it in living room, spread newspaper under your chair, wear dark colored clothes and dark colored or cloth that you won't mind staining around your neck.  Some cloth to wipe any excess dye outside your hairline of in case it drips around your face.  You wouldn't want to have striped face, right? =p

Also, this can be applied on dry hair.

It also has a pair of gloves inside.  Make sure you wear them.
Sorry, we're too excited to try the hair color that we forgot to take photo of all its contents =p
Anyway, there's a solution you must mix inside this bottle.
Don't shake.  Just gently tilt it upside down 5-6 times and it will mixed throughly,
just like above photo.

Press the bottle gently unto your palm and foams will come out like this.
Then massaged it beginning from the top of the head till the end like you would shampoo your hair.
Keep on doing it bit by bit until the whole hair is evenly spread with the form, inside and out.
If you have long hair, one whole bottle of it will be good enough.  If your hair is short, 2/3 of it (there's a line at the bottle) will be sufficient.

Okay, I know I said the hair color is supposed to be chestnut brown.
Don't ask me why it looks purple here LOL =p

I told her that she look like being covered by yam cake icing, LOL~~~ =p
So..when all done, leave it for 30 minutes, NO MORE.  I never tried leaving it for more than 30 minutes so...if the guide said 30 minutes, then follow instructions lah...

After 30 minutes....rinse as usual.  Shampoo and put conditioner like normal.  Blow dry.  Then apply the hair lotion that came in the box.  The result:

Tadaaaaa!!!! =p

I am planning to get mine colored to...but I can't decide which color that suits me.  Blonde maybe? LOL!

So...why not try doing it on your own?  Give your hair a different look for a change!  ^_^V

The other day, me and my friends were having some drinks and talking about getting our own asset someday.  It is important to own something for yourself for your own security, don't you think so?  I had to admit that there are lots of things you need to consider when getting that property to call it your own.

Location, the condition, surroundings...and so many more need to be taken into consideration before purchasing certain property, as per according to needs and afford ability.  When we mentioned about property - be it for lease, sale or rent, the first thing that came into mind is the local newspaper.  We would look around the pages, circling, crossing whichever that is relevant.

But sadly...most of them came in vague descriptions.  Price, brief location, say...a city (off course la it's in the city, but which one?), brief description - near a bus stop, near sports complex...(again, unclear descriptions) and then phone number.  Then we take all the trouble again to call, text...or sometimes drive in circles to looking for the exact location of the said property.  I had been through this with my friends and relatives who wanted to purchase and to survey first...got lost, feels like the description doesn't fit with the real thing and so many more.  In the end, it's all disappointment and waste of time.  Frustrated.

So, back to the topic about my discussion with my friends, I got this 'Aha!' moment (imagine light bulb on top of my head, LOL) and I was thinking...if there's some classified websites for different type of services and products, property must have too, right?

As soon as I reached home, I log into my computer and I really found something that made my search easier, saves time. Propwall  full fill the criteria that I was looking for.  Complete with details from locations all around the state (I had friends who are looking for assets outside the city), price and even photos!  =)

I also discovered iProperty, where you can also scout for properties around the country and overseas as well.  If you are currently homeowners or property hunters, there are reviews for certain places that you wanted to know, or discuss in forum about anything you want to know, or sharing your information about properties that will be useful especially to new owners - Thinkproperty has it for you.

You see, I discovered that it is important to get reliable sources like these before making your purchase, so that you'll know that your investment is not going to waste for nothing, don't you think so?
Something arrived at my doorstep today.  Hrm...from who ya...

Light leh....*thinks*...did I made any online order ah? =p
Seems like none lor...

Okay....nothing ticking inside...and after opening it....jeng jeng jeng~~~~

Well..there goes the hu-ha again.  Have you watched the movie above?

Okay, this might be a belated issue already.  But I purposely let the heat cool down first and watched the movie on my own before giving my opinion.  After watching it twice, I came with this conclusion:  I LOVE IT and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AS A 'MUST WATCH' LIST!

First of all, Nasi Lemak 2.0 is a story of a Chinese-Malaysian young chef, who believed in making Chinese cuisine to it's best after returning from a culinary school in China, and he didn't understand why some of his customers, even his workers still opt for eating other race's cuisine when he believed that 'original is better'.  As fate had it, he met a Chinese girl who rushed home from America to save her father from losing their family restaurant to her ambitious aunt.  In order to clear the mess in her family, her grandmother, who had been living in abroad so for long announced that a cooking competition to be held - the ones who can produce the best rice-themed food will had the control of the family business.  The girl, have a Malay lady as her godmother, who runs a successful nasi lemak stall, very much to the young chef's irritation.

One day, out of pride he tasted the nasi lemak made by the Malay lady that he loathed and was surprised that it tasted good, thus prompt him wanted to learn how to make the best nasi lemak from the Malay lady.  He was given a map, where he must go to certain places - and along the way he learnt lots of things he never discovered before, and made new friends.

This movie is a blend of how we live in Malaysia - with lots of comedy lines and so many things that made you  suddenly get the 'Aha!' moment that made you laugh...if you find it amusing to laugh at yourself, it's because this movie is made by a Malaysian to all the Malaysians, including you and me!

However, it is sad that there are some people went as shallow as below:

Seriously dude...what do you mean that Namewee's movie has political agenda?  Have you watched the movie?  If you did, I wonder if you can point out which part of his movie is classified as 'political elements' 'racist' or claimed as the 'hero of Malaysia'?  It's because the main character in the movie was called 'Hero Huang'?  Come on lah!!!! 'Yellow background as something to do with Bersih 2.0'???  Wah..cannot use yellow colour liao lah?  Funny la you people~~~!!!

Please lah...we know what is right to watch and what is not, ok?

What you scared of him making movie?

Everything also wanted to politicized,  seriously I am sick of it...when pet's been left starving and died also politicked, religion also politicized....what else next?  The color of the car we drive?  The food we eat?  The house we live?

Whatever lah...I am still giving my 2 thumbs up to Nasi Lemak 2.0 - it's up to you all if you like it or otherwise.

Malaysians, the choice and opinion is yours.  Just a little thought, can't we just had something that no one would ever think of trying to connect it with politics please?
Ok...so on Sunday, we went for photo hunt around KK with my, ehem...new hair cut and my new pinkie hat I spotted on Saturday...it was sold at RM19.90 and when I was about to pay for it, the salesgirl told me that its original price is RM49.90...Waaa....I feel so lucky!! =)

After basking under the sun for few shots me and Leanna decided to stop at the Filipino market for some coconut juice.

There are few coconut stalls here...you just gotta to choose which one you want.

They are selling 2 types of coconut.  The normal ones and the 'kelapa pandan' which cost more as the coconut juice is much more fragrant and sweeter.

Please ignore my smug face =p  (I can't help but love the pink hat though)
You may also opt for fresh coconut juice at RM1 per glass.
Don't worry, as I personally saw myself that the vendor would cut open the coconut and directly pour its contents into that big container.  No sugar water added except ice! =)
owh...we had 2 glasses of these....

Leanna's craving for kelapa pandan.  Forgot to take photo of it until we finished it in no time!
Someone is enjoying the kelapa pandan..hihihi...

I

They also sell puddings at RM2.50 each.  There are 2 types of pudding - mango & coconut.
I went for mango.  Not bad.  Not too sweet and very refreshing.

Leanna had this coconut pudding.
Frankly speaking, not to our liking...maybe cause the coconut flesh was blended...
I tried having it with coconut flesh I scooped from the coconut we had. Not bad.

After our coconut affairs done, we decided it's enough photo hunting for the afternoon and went to Centre Point for air-con...hehehe...it's so hot and sunny.

Went to have her spare key done...and then back to my place for a little rest.  She supposed to return to Sipitang but on last minute, she was told to pick up her client from the airport tomorrow afternoon.  Trip home cancelled, we went to get some sunset shots at Sutera Harbour.  Before we knew it, it's dinner time!

I suggested to Luk-Luk in Lintas...one of my favorite snack joint.  Let's see why I love it here:

Off course..the price lah...standard...RM1 EACH.

...and lots of varieties to choose.  Take your pick...small fish, fish cakes, fish balls, tofu, squid, chicken wings...vegetables..yong tau fu...etc.  Owh, they are fresh!

Yours truly pose first...LOL =p

Few types of sauce to choose from. Take your own pick...

For items you wanted it boiled, you can do it on your own.  But for fried ones, you just bring it to the little further back, their staff is there to help you.  That way, you can save yourself from getting scalded by hot oil ma....

First round...LOL

2nd round....hihihii ^_^V

Guess what, I missed 2 days of workout...uhuhuhuuhu....owh well...it's ok to indulge myself a little bit, rite? (trying to make myself happy) LOL~~~~~

I do recommend Luk-Luk in Lintas (the building opposite Salim) if you just wanted to have some snacks, drinks and a nice evening chit-chatting with you friends.

Good food + good friends = Good time!

Note: some photos above are credited to Leanna Chong.
Okay...after been surveying for some hair cuts styles in the internet and with friends giving suggestion this and that...Leanna came and introduced me to her hair stylist.  I am very nervous because I had been having long hair for quite sometime, and getting it shorter that it shows my neck is something that I had never think of before.

Leanna had been threatening me that if I attempted to run, she will had to jab tranquilizer on me...or chain me on the chair to get it done if she had to, huhuhuhuhu...  =.=|||

So, off we went to the G'Cut saloon at Palm Square, Centre Point.

Arrived there, and found out that her stylist, Florence is still with another customer, and won't be free for another 2 hours (wah..must be good one hor).  We made our reservation and then off to window shop for a while, and camwhoring session in between. =p

Like this one... =p

Then went to the food court to have our brunch at our favorite stall.  Chatting happily while enjoying our food...is something that I always had longed for.  You see, Leanna lives in another town (Sipitang) so we hardly had time to meet up to do girly stuff together.

Okay...it's time and we went back to the saloon.  After a wait for a little while, a nice (good looking too!) guy came and directed me to the hairwash section.  Need to get the hair wash first...shampoo, rinse...then some conditioner..and rinse again...then off to the chair...

Oh my...look at that look! LOL~~~~
Florence (behind me) suggesting what she'll do to my hair.
I remember when she came to the counter and Leanna pointed at me that I am the one who will be having a hair cut, Florence was looking at me with that 'this gonna be a tough job' look. LOL....

I love the way Florence work.  She would check the condition of my hair...is the curls original or not?  What kind of style the customer wants..and then suggesting something better if it doesn't suits.  Since this will be my first after so many, many years...I let her decide.  I no longer hear what she and Leanna were saying..everything come into pieces, like 'bob cut' 'Korean' 'nice hair' 'chic' 'simple'...whatever lah.

Snip a little there, snip a little here....uhuhuhu...there goes my hair...
waaaaaaa.....~~~~~!! =(

So...after waiting...and Leanna said she also wanna get hair cut too...(ikut-ikut kan LOL).  We both done!

Hehehehhee.... =p

There you go....

So...what do you think?  Leanna said it make me look fresh.  I don't know but I do feel it's lighter =p

My next target....to get a new hair color!!!!

If you in KK and want to get professional advice and good hair treaments as such, I do recommend G'Cut.  Ask for Florence and she'll give her best service to your hair!  (remember to book her beforehand).  It cost a little, but it's worth it!

It's been raining whole day.  Was forced to stay indoors at the first half of the day.  Then in the afternoon, went to Lenny's saloon to get my hair, make up done.  I had decided to wear the red cheongsam and the silver colored 3 inch-heels I had bought somewhere...uh....2 years ago? LOL...(Okay, I first got it because it was on sale (clearance stock)...in Bata for only RM10 per pair) so yeah..buy first then figure out when to wear it later.

I had to wait at least 1 hour before it was my turn to get a hairwash first...since it was public holiday and only she and the other shampoo girl manning the saloon.  Luckily I came early, so even though there are quite a number of customers there, I still can get myself all donned up and in time to the reception (thankfully it's just 5 minutes drive from our proshop!).

Hair wash first...blow dry...then Lenny started with the make up first.  Told her this time I want to keep it simple...the last time she did it for my cousin's wedding, it was with fake eyelashes and all..I feel like having 2 caterpillars stuck on my eyelids.  Few dabs there, brush here and there.  Tada...!  Make up is done! =)

Hairdo...ok, actually I dun really fancy curls...but since my SIL is waiting for her turn I decided just to get on with it lah...after all, it will be the last time I see my hair in long curls (ah..I didn't tell you that I will be getting haircut, am I?).  Lenny kept on telling me that my hair is long, should get it rebonded or curl or something..didn't tell her that it will be her last to comb my long hair...LOL...

Anyway, had fun time at the wedding...Leanna can't attend so I asked my friend, Kaynisa to replace her...

Kaynisa & Me

My bro & SIL.

The groom, Ollie @ Sebastian with my bro.

Sorry people, no food photos this time as we share table with some strangers...no good lah having them to wait until I finish take photo (usually I'll take few snaps from different angles for one dish =p).

We left the reception at about 10pm.  Not wanting to waste our good clothes, my brother suggested we went to watch 'Johnny English - Reborn' for the midnight show.  Okay, so it's weird to see people wearing pretty clothes and make up to watch movie, especially..the one who's wearing a red cheongsam that is so obviously striking among us..hahahaha....

Who cares anyway, I really had my fun...dance, sing at the reception and then to the movies, had a good laugh.  A really good evening to end with.

So...the last time for my long hair.... =p
How many of people out there meant what they say?

Maybe you were wondering what happened to AngeLBeaR after her food posts, suddenly she switched to some 'emotional' post here...LOL....

If you still wondering why...check out this video below and listen to every single word:

Chris Medina & Juliana Ramos' story inspired Rodney Jerkins to write this song.  Their love story almost like a fairy tale until she had an accident in 2009, 2 months shy from their wedding day that gave this couple the hardest trial they had to go through till now.  She suffered severe skull fracture, traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures to her beautiful face and partially paralyzed.  Chris is no longer her fiancée, he was her primary caretaker, and together with Juliana's family they arranged, planned and attended the daily treatments for her. It was not easy, nor inexpensive either.

Note:  Chris Medina is one of the hopeful American Idol contestants but failed to get into the next round (which caused J-Lo a tearful moment when she had to announced it to him that he was eliminated).

Now, what I learnt from this story...is that not many people will choose this road where Chris has chosen.  Many won't blame him if he choose not to take this responsibility, or leave in search for a better, smooth life ahead for himself.  Most might tell him that he has a life to go on his own, rather than let everything passes him by for something that is uncertain. But I guess, Juliana is his life.  God sent Juliana an angel in disguise of a man named Chris.

So...how many of us actually willing to do what we exactly said?
When we say "I love you." to that special someone, does it meant we love them for that moment, because of the good things they given or did to us?
When we say "I'll always be with you" does it mean only for the good times at that moment?
When we say "I care for you." does it including when they are down, sick or in trouble?
When we say "I'll be there for you" does it includes when they need someone the most?

I leave this chorus of the song for you to think about:

What are words if you really don't mean them when you say them?
What are words if they're only for good times then they don't?
When it's love, yeah you say them out loud
Those words they never go away, they lived on,
Even when we're gone...

The story of Chris and Juliana is a good example of crossing the selfishness, self-sacrifice and devotion so that the other can still lived on; through good and bad times together.  Chris represents a group of people who believe that with love, nothing is impossible.

Why don't we start to tell everyone around us...that we love them...we care for them and really meant what we say?  Look around us...we might overlooked that someone we left behind because of our own selfishness and still hoping, wondering if you realised that the people we left actually meant what they say.

Don't wait.  Don't say 'later' because...maybe it will be the last time we ever had the chance to do or say so.

Many a medical assistant have seen it every day.  Perhaps part of a patient care technician's certification could include encouragement to families to do this.
Not many people eats bitter gourd because of it's bitter taste.  I used to dislike it when I was a kid, but I can't remember since when do I started to love this vegetable.  There are few easy ways to prepare bitter gourd.  Anyway, I decided to cook some bitter gourd for dinner today:

Slice some bitter gourd.  Discard the seeds.  You can cut it into any sizes that you prefer.
In case you don't like the bitter taste, you can wash it again after slicing it.

Chop some garlic, as much as you prefer.

A can of fish with salted black beans.  Any brand will do.

In a wok, pour some oil (3-4 tablespoons will do) and then put in the garlic.  Stir fry until it became aromatic then put in the bitter gourd.  Stir until it gets soft (I prefer mine half cook though).  Afterwards put in the whole can of fish with salted black beans, stir well.  Put in salt to taste (usually you don't have to, as the canned fish and black beans already has taste), maybe a little water if it gets too dry.  Serve.

Tadaaa!! ^_^V

Another simple way to prepare bitter gourd is just simply cook it with eggs to made into an omelette, or stir fry with marinated meat of any kind you prefer.

Bitter gourd has it's own nutritional value, in case you were wondering, it is highly recommended for those having high blood and diabetic problem.  So, why don't put bitter gourd in your menu next time ok?

Well...now that the Ramadhan month is over, it's time to publish food post..after sometime!!!  =p

Was doing some grocery shopping at Giant yesterday and was thinking to fix something for tea time today for the family.  (yes, for the FAMILY.  Not me... =p)

So, what I had in store today?  It's cucur bawang or onion fritters - AngeLBeaR style! Hehehehehee....now let's see how to get it done:

Multi purpose flour with an egg.

All purpose seasoned flour.  (This is not sponsored by Giant ok).
If you don't have one, you can make on your own - 5 spice powder + a little salt + corn flour + rice flour + a little baking powder + pepper +chili powder (if you want it spicy)

The main ingredients.
1 - dried shrimp (soaked) and then pounded coarsely with some garlic.
2. Spring onions.  Using the chives (kuchai) also good, even better.
3. Shallots.

Mix all the ingredients above with water, until it turn into a thick batter.
Note:  I didn't use any measurements for the flour.  Just make sure that you put extra one cup of the seasoned flour from the multi purpose flour.
Prepare some oil for deep frying, then use the spoon to scoop the batter, put into the hot oil as per your preferred size.  Fry until golden brown. (If you want to make sure if it's done, just poke it with a knife and if it comes out clean, means the fritters are done.)

Tadaaaa!!! Serve hot with you favorite sauce.  =)

Till then, happy makan!  ^_^V
