The thing about having a cat that has mostly white fur on her body is that...she either came home with dirt on her...thus made her has this streaks of brown or black on her...in Oggy's case...she is pink.  I kid you not.

The pink hue lessen a bit after wipe her with a piece of wet cloth...
I wonder whose house she went. =.=|||

and I am having this naughty idea to give her a makeover when I got time.
I hope the SPCA won't nab me for that. =.=|||

I can't resist seeing a cat, it seems.  This white cute kitty is a no exceptional.  Her name is Otzie, she is the queen of the place where she even have her own rug to sleep on, and meals are always ready on time.  I do wish there will be more cats as lucky as her out there.
I am lucky that I am blessed with little things that comes my way.

Koko K asked me to pick one again...and this time, I got my 2nd kitty pluggy and I choose this cute yellow fella.  Reminded me of my missing Ollie, the stray that I adopted years ago - whom I always fondly remember the first day I saw him given to me...sick, scrawny, dirty, glassy eyes...stared at me from a small shoe box.  He is barely smaller a bit than my palm back then, too hungry, too weak to utter a cry.  I took him in that very moment.

Months later, though he is very sickly and easily caught fever and flu during rainy days, Ollie is just like any other healthy kitty, playing, sleeping and wandering around the house everywhere he pleased.  Then one day, I came back from a paintball tournament and Ollie was not there to greet me at the door like he used to.  He was gone without a trace, till now.  =(

Anyway, I always kept a positive thought that Ollie is in a better home, where a family needed him to cheer someone, like he did to me.  This is the reminder of him, in which, the closest that I can get to see him whenever I missed him.

It will also reminded me of the token of friendship, and the happy thoughts that came with it.

thank you! =)

Note:  To those who wished to own this pluggy or the likes of it, you can visit this Facebook page and see what other cool stuff they had in store:  https://www.facebook.com/majorcaboutique
Most of my friends knew that apart from something pink, butterflies, bears...cats is in the list too.  After all, how many friends they knew that keeps a bag of kibbles in her big bag to feed a stray she saw in the streets?   =p

Anyway, I went hiatus from the net for couple weeks recently, no reason, just needed to have more 'me' time  and I went back to my hometown, spending my days that went by slowly, far from the jams and exchanging the concrete jungle with the natural green hills which I enjoyed the luxury of watching them every morning, covering in mist, having my sister's cats as companions whenever everyone went to work and school.  idyllic, but surprisingly, I 'survived' without having the urge to check on my mail, Twitter and Facebook!  Well, occasionally, my phone rang and SMS came in but that doesn't bother me at all.

Well, my belated birthday gift is already here...

Hehehe...I love it to bits!!!!!!

Thank you Koko K & Simon!!!

The greatest gift is not based on the size, but the hearts and warm thoughts that comes with it.

What? You haven't got your Christmas list done yet????
Do you have any idea how many days to Christmas?

10 more days to Christmas....how's your preparation going on?
A friend of mine posted this photo in her Facebook recently:

Notice that?

This poor kitty was found minus 1 leg.

If it's in KK, I would already drag my brother to go and take it home...but the sad part is that this kitty is in Labuan.  If you happen to know anyone who lives in Labuan and can provide a good home for this kitty, please look for it behind the Hotel Pulau Labuan 2, near Kedai Kopi 126.

May God repay your kindness in 10 folds.
Yesterday my sister, Kirstin trying to bake Pandan Layer Cake.  Not bad for a first try though.

..and I kept on trying to persuade her to bake honeydew cake for me!  =p

Anyway, apart from me....there's another been eyeing on the cake too:

Juno: hrm....I want to have some too!!!!

Ngap! Nyum....nyum...nyum.....my crazy boss took my photo...but I don't care....

Note:  If the cats love it, then it must be good! =p

Since Miko's death, I am being protective of the little ones, they are not allowed to be outside the house without supervision, and the minute everyone's inside the house, the cats has to be inside the house too.  This went on for quite sometime until recently, I managed to let them go out without worrying too much.  As I was watching TV in the living room few days ago, I saw Juno and took my cam out and took some shots.  Here's the best one out of the loot:

^_^V

Si Comot lose weight drastically not long after she delivered her kittens (Miko, Juno, Hitler, Oggy & Robin) 3 months ago.  However, no matter how thin she is, her appetite is still as big as ever, but never seem to gain weight.  I thought it was caused by the kittens who still harassing their mom for milk and she got stressed or something like that.  2 days ago, she seemed really not in the mood, lay down on the floor with a dreamy gaze after her meal, didn't even bother to kick her kittens when they tried to suck on her nipples.  Went to her, asking her what's wrong (yes, I talk to my cat!) and noticed that her body is slightly cold.  So, off to the vet yesterday.

Temperature, okay.  Weights at 1.9kg.  The vet asked me the normal strings of questions, "Is she eating well?"  Yes.  "Any vomiting?" No.  "Normal stool? Not watery or bloody?"  None that I know of.  Then took a blood test and the results came that her red blood cells is okay.  But her white blood cells seems to be more than normal.  Very unusual pattern too.  So, the vet came out with the result - Feline AIDS.

No cure for cats who has these kind of disease - that's a straightforward answer.  However, she's given few jabs of medication and 2 weeks' supply of antibiotics and return for check up afterwards to see if she's responding to the medication.  Told me that if the cat's responding well and her antibody is strong enough, she could live longer.  Phew...putting her to sleep is not an option for me!

Now that she has it, I think I need to start bringing the cats and kittens in the house for a check up in near time!

So...What is Feline AIDS you ask?

Feline AIDS or FAIDS is caused when the cat is tested positive for having Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).  FIV damages the immune system inside the cat's body, to prevent him from combating ailments or other type of infections.  Over sometime, the cat's health will getting worst before succumb to the disease.  There is no cure for FIV or FAIDS at the moment, but with proper care, we can prolong his life and let them live a good quality life before he passing on.  Estimated between 1% to 14% of the cats' population is infected with FIV/FAIDS.

How Does FIV/FAIDS spread?

Like some of you, I thought it's because of their sexual activities too.  Well...it's not.  Sexual activity is not a principle cause of FIV/FAIDS.  The virus is commonly spread via saliva, bite wounds by an infected cat.  Male cats, which always involved in fights with other cats has the higher risk of getting infected.  Kittens, can also be infected thru the FIV/FAIDS positive mother cat's milk.

Is it safe for humans to be around with FIV/FAIDS infected cats?

FIV/FAIDS and HIV/AIDS is not the same, though genetically almost similar.  Rest assured that HIV/AIDS is not transmittable to cats and vice versa. It's perfectly safe for both human and cats with both diseases to mingle around.

What are the symptoms that I should look out for?

Some of the symptoms could be:
- Poor coat infections, skin conditions
- Mouth, tooth and gum problems
- Very poor appetite
- Chronic diarrhea
- Continuous fever
- Progressive weight loss
- Chronic abscesses or wounds that took long to heal
- Eye problems - cataracts, glaucoma, conjunctivitis
- Ear infections
- Anemia
- Seizures
- Tumors
- Psycho motor problems - shaky manner when walking
- Still births

Take note that even if your cat has the above symptoms it wasn't necessary to be FIV/FAIDS, but to make sure please bring them to your vet for further check up.

Can I keep my infected cats with the other cats?

Best to get all the other cats for a check up to make sure the others are healthy and tested negative.  No problem to keep them together as normal but if the infected cat is a fighter, best to keep them in a cage to prevent him from infecting others.

If your cats is socially interact with other cats out there, best to get them tested soon.  Love your pets!  ^_^V

I had the horror of my life this morning.

Woke up early and didn't notice anything was amiss, but I do felt something is lacking, and I just can't figure out what it is.  Went outside the house to throw the rubbish when suddenly I saw something furry at the front porch.  Luckily my 2 neighbors (left and right) is still on CNY holiday....else they might ran out from the house wondering why I called out loud, "Mikoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Too late.  His little body, cold, lifeless, slumped on the floor.  Dead.

My Miko is dead.

I tried to recall the last time I saw him before I went to bed.  I remember I slept quite late last night, still remember doing head counts like I normally did before retiring to my room.  I even chasing them around the house to fed them their supplement.  Miko was very, very much alive, and inside the house.

Apparently, he learnt to crawl out from the house via the window after observing his mother been doing it for quite sometime, didn't know the danger - the 2 dogs, Spike and Pinky still not yet get used to the new kittens in the house.  Either one or both of them found him wandering alone at the porch...and...killed him.

I felt so bad.  Somehow, I blamed myself that I contributed to his death.

Why I didn't put them into a cage?  Why haven't I noticed they could climb out on their own when there's no one around to monitor them?

I'm sorry.....I'm really a bad master... =(

I'm so sorry, Miko... =( =(

This is Si Pipit.  It's very hard to get her to stay still and took a proper pose (this one, is by luck and the quick snap).  Named her 'Pipit' because when I first picked her from the back of the restaurant last year, she was the smallest among the three - Zoey, Socky (RIP) and her.  The name 'Pipit' inspired from the little small brown bird named 'Pipit' that mostly can be found in paddy fields.  But looking at the size now...hahahaha...but nonetheless, she is one of my precious!  ^_^V

Miko is coming to 3 months now.
^_^V
A Facebook friend tagged me in this photo that she sometime ago.

This photo is taken when she was waiting for a relative outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital ICU ward.  It was at 4am in the morning.  Then she spotted this man, covered this kitty with a piece of cloth before dozed off for a shut eye.

Mind you, this is not his cat.  The kitty is one of the strays that lives around the hospital area - and this man covered him so the kitty won't get cold, while he himself slept in bare feet and no blanket whatsoever around him.

There is nothing wrong to show a little kindness to God's creatures.

Christmas is all about love, kindness and hope.  May the simple gesture of this man remind us to help those in need and be kind.  =)
It's been 25 days since Comot had her kittens.  They are now can respond to human touch and meow loudly, begging to come out from the box, but we still not dare to let them out yet, though they seem able to walk and respond to calls.  Here are they:

Hitler

Juno

Miko

Oggy

Robin

I took their photos using my Canon 500D.  Still need lots of learning and practicing....and it's hard to take photos of these kittens cause they always move about! =p

It won't be long until the day they will start running and jumping around...I can't wait. =)

My name is Buyut.

A week ago, I was found running away from something scary one dark, rainy night.
As I was running, I disturbed one mean homeless dog (like me) from his sleep.
Almost got killed by the dog when suddenly a lady shouted and scared the doggy away.
I was scared at this fierce lady at first because she seems meaner than the doggy (or else, how come the doggy ran away from her?), but she assured me that she meant no harm to me.

Despite my horrible smell for living out of dumpster for quite some time, she picked me up and held me close, wrapped me in her raincoat and showed me to another guy who came with her.  I feel sorry for staining her nice shirt but she didn't mind.  They then took me to this warm place with other cats surrounding me with curious look on their faces.  They wanted to make friends with me, but I'm so scared of this new surroundings that even though I was placed in a cage to temporarily separate me from them, I tried to be as fierce as I could to tell them that I am not an easy bully target.  But the lady fierce lady understood, put some food and water in my cage and cover it with her raincoat so the other cats can't get a peek of me - and I can get some peace for a while, away from these curious cats and kittens.

The next day, another lady bring me to this place, where I saw lots of cats and dogs wailing in fear and pain.  Some looks happy though.  Nice uniformed ladies attended me, and a smiling lady in white robe examined me.  She said something about 'operation'...I wonder what is that.  They kept on mentioning some stuff about my ears.  I knew my ears is different from the other cats I saw last night. Mine is completely swollen at both ears from the inside...and I thought that was normal.

After the operation, they returned and bring me back to the same place last night.  Feels weird with stitches on my ears but they told me it's for my own good.  I like it here.  The other cats love to make friends with me, and the nice people that lives with them.  I wish other cats out there will be as lucky as I am.

Author's Note:
Buyut is the latest cat I rescued last week.  Found almost got mauled alive by a stray dog, he was found to have infections on both his ears - swollen badly that we had to get it operated to get all the puss out.  I wonder how much suffering this little one endure have I not found him sooner. - AngeLBeaR

This is Girl-Girl.  Couple weeks ago, I found her wandering aimlessly in front at the corridor beneath our proshop amidst the people walking passed by, ignoring her.  Lost and hungry, I just took her in.  Now, she's living happily in our proshop among 10 more other cats.

I wonder...how come people can simply ignore this cute little kitten?
On 15/11/2010, Si Comot delivered 5 beautiful kittens.

I can't wait to see them walk, run and jump around the house!

How many cats I have now, you ask?  5 kittens, plus 5 cats (Socky died recently and Oren missing a day after)...to the record I have 10 in my house!  ^_^V

I don't feel happy lately.  I am always hungry, moody and make loud noise so that my owner hears that I need food, 5 times a day!  I don't like the box they gave me for me to sleep - I want to sleep on the sofa where they were sitting.  I like to sit nearby their feet wherever they stand so they will notice me.  I love it whenever they step inside the kitchen and bug them for more food.  I knew that I am one irritating cat sometimes, but I just can't help it!

Look at me, I am pregnant - will be giving birth very soon.  And I can't even tell my owner who is the father!!  I should have listened and stay at home quietly, and not running away when they are looking for me to bring me to the vet. Now the father has disappeared and the last news I heard he eloped with another pretty kitty across the street.  I feel fat, round and wherever I go or whatever I do, it's so not convenient!!

Si Comot will be giving birth to her kittens anytime soon.  I don't know how many kittens it would add into my household...I can't wait. =)
Last Friday (29th October 2010), Socky was found unwell.  Worried that he might caught flu virus (that killed most of my cats in the past), I decided to bring him to the vet (Sabah Animal Medical Center) along with Pipit (which already scheduled for spaying next week).  True enough, the vet found that Socky's throat were all red, thus make him enable to eat or drink for swallowing will be very painful for him.  He was already having high fever, dehydrated and showing early signs of flu.  Blood test was taken and he is confirmed having blood parasite as well.  The worst, Dr. Yan said, Socky might had early symptom of leukemia.  Fear for the virus might infect my other cats at home (Si Comot is pregnant, will be expecting kittens anytime soon), I decided to place him in the ward.

Socky...waiting nervously to be examined while my SIL, Tracy calmed him down.

Dr. Yan carefully examined him...

Got few jabs that I can't recall...vitamin, antbiotics... =(

Due to dehydration, he has to be drip with water...look at how many it was inserted into his body...

Had to hold him tight...he might be sick but still strong enough to fight back...

Sorry boy....this is for your own good... =(

Sick....he looked at me with the 'I don't want to stay here' look when I placed him into the cage myself.  It's really heart-breaking. =(

30th October 2010.

Went to visit him in the afternoon to check his condition.  He still look sad.  But I managed to held him while the nurse had to force feed him some medicine using syringe into his mouth.  Still strong enough to kick and fight back.  I know it is painful for him to swallow, and it doesn't taste good.  I wished that he will respond to the medications.  Spent sometime with him, trying to assure him that if he being a good kitty to eat his medicine, he will be home soon.  Again, he tried to make his cutest look to assure me that he is okay to go home.  Still, had to leave him.  He is on painkiller so that he can eat and drink without pain.  Dr. Yan said the chances for him to survive is high if he started eating.

31st October 2010.

Sunday.  The vet is opened half day.  Managed to see him again.  Once again, he has to be given water and vitamin through IV.  He is sad.  I know how it feels, boy.  Surrounded by a bunch of wailing cats and dogs, it is not a pleasant place to be.  But you had to get well.  By then, I really wished that I could bring him home, but unfortunately, I had an work to do...will be home only by night time...I can't just leave him at home without someone to watch over him from time to time.

1st November 2010.

Received SMS from my SIL at 8:15am.  Socky was weak, given oxygen and was found has bleeding stool.  Confirmed with gastrointestinal problem all over inside his body.  Was told to prepare for the worst.  Arrived the vet at 8:45am.  I cried when I saw him lying at the operating table, his eyes no longer responsive.  Wrapped in towels with gloves filled with warm water.  His body is cold but he still breathing.  I stood there for more than an hour, stroking him all the time, telling him to rest.

Socky was then carried back into his cage.  I spent most of my time there, leaving only for a while to sit down and let the caretakers cleaned the animal's cages and fed them.  My Socky can no longer eat or move.  11am, I went out for a while, knowing my brother Zach who took the trouble to sent me and waited with me haven't eaten anything.  Returned as soon as we finished our brunch.  Socky was still trying to hold on.

I comforted him, told him that what a good cat he's been.  Thanking him for all the happiness and smiles he has given to us.  I kept on whispered to his ear, hoping that he'll listen and told him that it is okay to let go.  Deep inside I prayed to God, to just release him from the pain.

My SIL arrived at a little over 12:30pm to visit her own cat and at the same time, visiting mine.  Then, suddenly, Socky jerked a little bit with his head towards above him, trying to catch some breath.  His breathing deep and slow.  I cried again, letting my tears fell as I stroked him.  His body getting colder as time goes by, but his heart still beating.  I kept on telling him to just let go...and rest.

12:45pm.  Socky still breathing.  Sometimes I could occasionally heard his breathing seems deep and exhale sounds came out from his mouth.  1:30pm.  Socky found difficulty to breathe and chocked on every breath he took.  Dr. Yan gave him some oxygen.  He still coughing a little and I kept on holding him, feeling his heart beat that went faint...little by little. His little heart beats slowly.....and getting slower.......slower.......and slower..........and then....it just....stopped.  Dr. Yan examined him and confirmed that his little heart had stopped.  Socky died at 1:57pm...

It was raining heavily last night.  It reminded me of the day we found Socky, Pipit and Zoey at the back of a restaurant couple months ago.  It was raining heavily, and I placed them in a box and bring them home.

May 2010.  Socky was a tiny little kitten, very curious about everything and hyperactive.

He will sleep everywhere....

anything can be his toy...

Socky (left) with his playmate, Pipit (right)....She has been very unhappy since yesterday =(

Socky.  May 2010 - 1st Nov 2010.

I'm going to miss you boy.  You've been a good kitty.  If cats goes to heaven, I am sure you are there somewhere, with Him who created you.
If only cats can talk, I wish they can everyone out there how it feels to be a street cat - facing danger, hatred by people who looked at them with the disgusted look on their faces, how they also need one compassionate soul to take them home and proper place to live, proper food...or how they yell at their owner who dumped them "Oi!!!  Don't leave me here, you irresponsible human!!!"

Maybe that's what Tompok tried to tell me...

Tompok was found rummaging for food in the dumpster when my SIL and brother passed by and spotted her and bring her home...now living happily in our proshop, with proper place to live, no need to worry about food and most important of all, lots of love and care.  =)

If you want to have pets, don't buy them.  There are lots out there that needed help and care very much.
